Medical management primary treatment. Complications of the disease are surgically managed. Complications such as obstruction, abscesses, fistulas (connections between) to other intestines or bladder.

Removal of diseased intestine and the inflamed tissue or "fistula" associated with the inflamation.

Laparoscopic small (or large) bowel resection.

  Potential complications
 
SIDE EFFECTS - Increased diarrhea if a large amount of bowel has to be removed. COMPLICATIONS - Leakage of reconnected intestine, infection in abdomen,or obstruction from adhesions caused by infection.
