SIDE EFFECTS - Increase in the platelet levels in the blood to above normal. Can result in blood clots. Increase suceptability to certain pneumonias which can be prevented with vaccination prior to surgical removal. COMPLICATIONS - Bleeding, or injury to organs near spleen. |
