Remove source of acid thereby allowing ulcer to heal.

  Treatment
 
Treatment is to reduce acid production. Done by cutting nerves to stomach which are capable of increasing acid production, also by removing the end of the stomach which also increases acid production when food enters it.

Laparoscopic antrectomy with vagotomy or highly selective vagotomy without antrectomy

  Potential complications
 
SIDE EFFECTS - Reduced volume of stomach thereby reducing amount of food one can eat per meal. COMPLICATIONS - Bleeding, leakage at site of connection of stomach with intestine, or stricture of connection between stomach and intestine producing an obstruction
